Newborn Photography Workshop Hosting | Rockledge FL Newborn Photographer

Recently I was lucky enough to be able to host my long time mentor at my newborn photography studio in Rockledge, FL where she taught an in person newborn posing workshop. I was SO excited for this opportunity to learn, and also to finally meet my mentor in person, who is someone I have entrusted the last few years to guide me and refine my newborn photography skills.

I thought it would be fun to take a moment and share some of the work that came out of this workshop, and to explain why doing workshops and participating in training is so important, even for the most seasoned of newborn photographers.

So why do we host/attend training? Photographers often conduct training workshops for several reasons:

  1. Skill Enhancement: Workshops provide an opportunity for both beginners and experienced photographers to learn new techniques, refine their skills, and stay updated with industry trends.

  2. Networking: Workshops bring together photographers from various backgrounds, allowing them to network, share ideas, and build connections within the industry.

  3. Hands-On Experience: Many workshops offer practical, hands-on experience in real-world settings or with professional equipment, which is invaluable for learning photography techniques.

  4. Feedback and Critique: Participants often receive constructive feedback and critique on their work from instructors and peers, helping them improve their photography and develop a critical eye.

  5. Inspiration and Motivation: Being in a workshop environment surrounded by like-minded individuals can inspire photographers, reignite their passion, and motivate them to explore new creative avenues.

  6. Specialized Knowledge: Workshops often focus on specific genres or techniques (e.g., newborn posing, studio lighting), allowing photographers to delve deep into areas of interest.

  7. Professional Development: For photographers looking to turn their passion into a profession, workshops can provide insights into the business side of photography, including marketing, client relations, and portfolio building.

Overall, workshops serve as a platform for continuous learning and growth in the field of photography, catering to both personal enrichment and professional development goals. With newborn sessions in particular, it is also a great way to be sure to stay up to date on newborn posing safety.

This day really reignited my newborn posing workflow. It's very easy to get into a posing rut, or avoid certain poses after one difficult session, and this workshop helped dispel all of that! Like with any job, it's so wonderful to see how someone else approaches things that you do, and to find ah-ha moments that help propel your own work.

I had so much fun at this! We were fortunate enough to have two wonderful babies in that day to model. In the morning session we focused on fabric posing, and the afternoon was centered around prop posing. A huge thanks to my mentor Kathryn!! If you are a photographer interested in newborn posing, I cannot recommend her enough!
