Introducing: High Chair Cake Smashes!

I started this year by moving into a new studio space, which has opened up some great possibilities for new sessions for me to offer. One of these sessions available now are High Chair Cake Smashes!

What is a high chair cake smash session, you ask? Well, it's exactly what it sounds like – a delightful session where a baby is placed in a high chair, presented with a delicious cake, and encouraged to dive in and make a mess!

While the session is primarily going to take place in the chair at the window, I do still include basic portraits at the beginning of the session before the cake is introduced. I do this because experience has taught me that not all kids love cake, even if they have had it and love it before. Starting out with classic portraits guarantees more variety in the event that they don't love the cake portion, and usually helps your child to relax and get used to the studio surroundings.

Just like with all of my other cake smashes, I will aim to get those cute cakey details like fingers and toes (or shoes!), which are often some of my favorite images for preserving their tiny features in time.

These sessions are best for your nearly one year olds that enjoy being in their highchairs. But, as I've learned through the years, kids are definitely unpredictable at sessions. So even if your child decides the high chair isn't for them at the session, the tray is easily removed for a floor based experience.

And just one quick update! Since shooting these images, I have updated the flooring in this area of the studio. The news floor are absolutely dreamy, and I can't wait to use them for one of these sessions!
